September Newsletter

We must begin by congratulating Lions Jim Bedford and Ken Walters.  Sunday’s Steak Fry was a monumental success.  A lot of hard work on the part of our Chairs, PLUS every Lion worked hard and had fun!  Anywhere I looked, I saw Lions laughing and joking.  That’s what it is all about.  It was a truly pleasurable event.  Again, Thank you Lions.

Don’t forget to attend this Wednesday’s General Meeting.  We will finalize details and choose the menus for our Annual Charter Night.  This year we are holding it in September, since October is soooo busy.  (Actually, our Charter was formed in September – just a tidbit.)  The date is September 26th – that’s right, our next meeting.  For the newcomers, we like to dress up, maybe have a cocktail (ha), and our hardworking secretary, Lion Sandy, has been busy ordering mucho pins.

Thanks to Lion John Weidenbach, we will be  collecting for White Cane Day at the Centier Bank.  I tried Amelia’s, but they have a ruling in their mall, that none of the businesses are allowed to assist non-for-profits in soliciting.  Fortunately, Centier owns its land.  We will also be collecting at the front gate and side gate of the Seasons.  Sign-up sheet will be passed this Wednesday, as the event is THIS Saturday, September 15th.

It’s an October event, but I don’t want anyone to forget.  Zone Meeting is Monday, October 1st at Harry O’s.  Probably commences at 6PM w/dinner at 7PM.  We can ask our Region Chair, Lion Gennie.  (did I spell it right?)

Happy Birthdays to Lions Sally Davis, Tom Hansen, Steve Rowley and LT Wolf.

Please mark your calendars NOW.  The Health Fair is scheduled for Saturday, October 20th from 9AM to noon and the Fall Pork Chop Dinner is on Sunday, October 28th.

I want to buy a “stop” or “slow” sign for Lion Roy Green.  Gosh, the man never stops working.  Please take it easy, Roy, we don’t want you to burn out!  Like you too much.

See you Wednesday,    Lion Charmaine
